Sidewalk Style – Week 25 With Yiming

Jun, 15th, 2014

This was the first time I met Yiming. Be sure visit the links below to view additional photos:
10/2014 – Ultra Rich Asian Girls Press Conference
07/2014 – 3rd photo shoot
07/2014 – 2nd photo shoot

I was about to head home without a fashion photo when a woman walked by wearing an amazing Khaki colored lace trench coat. I breathed a sigh of relief and introduced myself to her and her family. Yiming (Florence) told me she studied fashion design in Milan and she’s considering launching a sexy women’s yoga-wear line. Once our mini photo shoot began she moved from pose to pose with ease and grace. I asked if she modeled and she answered with a smile.
I liked how she matched the lace of her platform heels to the her coat. Her little black dress was definitely a surprise and be sure to take a close look at her fingernails. Coco would be proud!

Sidewalk Shoot – With Emily

May, 17th, 2014

Six Things I like about Emily!

When I first saw Emily, the word classy popped into mind. Her overall appearance reminded me of a Coco Chanel quote. The legendary fashion designer once said, “Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” Aside from a nice smile and a warm personality here’s what I liked.

  1. Hid the typical bra silhouette by wearing a white one piece sports bra,
  2. Paired a short crop top blouse with a knee length pencil skirt,
  3. Wore two colors that emphasized her hair as a third color (i.e. a Pop of Color),
  4. Carried a uniquely designed purse,
  5. Wore a gold bracelet that match the gold buckles in her heels and
  6. Wore sexy yet comfortable heels.

Each element was subtle and understated but the combined effect was “Wow”! As we chatted I learned Emily recently graduated from a fashion design program and currently works as an Intern for a local designer.

Zara Durrani, My Sidewalk Shoot With…

Apr, 18th, 2014

It was a warm sunny day when I met Zara Durrani at Malary’s Fashion Network. We travelled to Surrey/Cloverdale for the purpose of picking her “Raincouver” outfit. We decided to postpone the rainy day shoot and Zara picked a spring dress and shawl. The owner suggested the earrings and braclet. I picked the purse and heels from a store downtown.
During the shoot Zara shared the following information about herself:

  • Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn are her fashion icons.
  • In 2011 – 2012 she was the Producer and Host of “Life & Style with Zara”.
  • She spends her time traveling between Vancouver, Los Angeles and Toronto.
    • She’s been a recent guest star on TV shows Psych and Arrow.
  • She’s a yoga instructor
  • She owns a Vancouver-based production company which helps businesses market themselves.
  • She’s involved with Fashion Hope which strives to end human trafficking.

Needless to say she’s a busy lady!

Sidewalk Shoot – My Friend Daria

Mar, 9th, 2014

Daria is a university student and an aspiring ballet dancer. She’s not a model but she’s been on stage and photographed many times. I’ve had the benefit of photographing her twice before. Click Daria to see our second shoot. However, today’s meeting was entirely random. She was dressed for her girlfriend’s high tea birthday party. In addition to the special occasion the sunny weather (after a week of rain) influenced her selection of pastel colors. I love how she paired a romantic dress with a tailored coat.

Sidewalk Style – Week 31 with Miss C

Jul, 30th, 2013

If you’ve followed my Photoblog then you know I’m not a fan of black on black outfits. They should be reserved for Ninjas, Navy Seals and bouncers. Everyone else should have color in their wardrobe. However that’s not to say I won’t make an exception. Today was such a day.
I saw an attractive lady but as she got closer I could tell she was impeccably dressed. I admired how the black of her jacket closely matched the black of her bandage dress. That’s impressive considering they were two different brands and most likely two different fabrics. It would have been far to easier for her to choose a black bag. But instead she chose a dark brown bag (possibly to match her hair color). Coincidental perhaps, but a nice touch just the same!
As we started chatting she said I could photograph her on the condition that I don’t show her face. I hope you enjoy her outfit as much as I did!
Miss C’s wearing:
Jacket Time
Dress Herve Leger
Bracelet Hermes
Purse Hermes Birken
Heels Manolo Blahnik

Sidewalk Shoot – My Friend Limi

Jun, 8th, 2013

I photographed Limi on two random occasions in May. Click Limi’s first outfit and Limi’s second outfit to see what she wore. Today we met on a chilly Saturday afternoon to discuss a potential opportunity. As we were chatting she mentioned she’s never modeled. Instead she teaches literature in a foreign language. I also learned we share the same birthdate day! Then to my disbelief she confessed she’s a “jeans & T-Shirt” girl! Both earlier encounters were coincidental. Today she wore a cute yet simple outfit. She matched her white Dior heels (from a couple years ago) with her white Lacoste bag.
Limi’s wearing:
Dress Cut25 (from Bluebird)
Necklaces Tiffanys
Bracelet Tiffanys
Purse Lacoste
Heels Dior

Sidewalk Style – Week 23 with Yeting

Jun, 4th, 2013

Yeting’s brightly colored outfit caught my attention. She purchased it from a small boutique in China. I liked how her Aldo platform wedge heels matched the colors of her blue belt and orange Hermes bracelet. Just as we started chatting, three of her friends arrived. I had to work fast to capture four basic shots. She mentioned she’ll be moving to LA to enroll in a fashion design school. Naturally, I asked what designers/fashion houses inspire her. She mentioned Vera Wang, Burberry and Chanel.
