Caroline is a bit casually dressed for SidewalkRunway but there was something about her knee high stockings and ponytail that attracted my attention. Her inspiration for her outfit was comfort. She was heading to work and chose flats because she would be standing for most of her shift. She’s wearing a “two color” outfit but each piece came from a different store.

Caroline’s wearing:

Jacket: Zara
Bag: Calvin Klein
Stockings: American Apparel
Shoes: Camper (bought in Paris)

Daria is a university student and an aspiring ballet dancer. She’s not a model but she’s been on stage and photographed many times. I’ve had the benefit of photographing her twice before. Click Daria to see our second shoot. However, today’s meeting was entirely random. She was dressed for her girlfriend’s high tea birthday party. In addition to the special occasion the sunny weather (after a week of rain) influenced her selection of pastel colors. I love how she paired a romantic dress with a tailored coat.

Several of these images were featured in the Community section of the Asian Pacific Post newspaper.

Daria’s wearing:

Coat: Zara
Dress: Ever New
Bracelets: Tiffany’s
Purse: Prada
Heels: Miu Miu

I met Sofie on her way to her marketing job. She’s not required to dress-up but she does so anyway. We only had a few minutes but I was amazed by the number of nice shots we were able to capture. As a result, I forgot to ask what inspired her outfit. I followed up via e-mail and here’s what wrote.

“My outfit definitely revolved around the skirt. I’ll stick to a generally neutral/black/white base and then keep it interesting with graphic patterns or a pop of color. I think I bought this skirt 5 years ago (yes 5!) and the pattern is still quite current. About a year ago I had the skirt tailored to be more suited to my style today (it used to be more A-line).”

She also mentioned her ankle boots were a great Boxing Day find.

Mijune has a popular food blog called Follow Me Foodie. She’s the Resident Food Columnist for the local weekly newspaper WE and she’s a fashionista. Click here to see Mijune’s Yaletown outfit and here to see Mijune’s Deighton Cup outfit.

Tonight we met at the Hyatt Regency hotel for the Gingerbread Lane contest.   I missed the judging and awards ceremony but we met in the lobby. I was amazed by the intricate and elaborate displays. The first and second place winners are shown above but I estimate there are 30 – 40 entries. According to the rules, everything must be edible. I saw Wheat Chex used at roofing shingles and Red Hots that resembled tiny flowers.

The Hyatt is located next to the Burrard Sky Train station. Admission is free and photos are permitted but the display ends Friday, December 27th.

Hi Nina!

Q- What are you wearing today?
A- My jeans and flats are from H&M, my blouse is from Forever 21 and my coat is from Zara.

Q- When/where would you wear this?
A- I suppose I would wear this during dinners and such… heck, knowing me, I would just wear this as an everyday outfit.

Q- How would you describe your personal style?
A- A mixture between chic and comfy with a bit of edge? Haha, I don’t know, I rotate alot.

Q- Who’s your favorite style icon?
A- I don’t really have one. I take styles from the people around me and mold them into my own.

Q- What shopping secrets would you like to share?
A- There’s a motto that I always go by: it’s not what you wear, but how you wear it! The strangest pieces of clothing can result in the greatest outfits.
    Stand out from the norm!

Q- If you were a super hero/villain, what super powers would you have?
A- Haha, I’m sticking with the classic ‘flying’ or ‘teleportation’ abilities.

Q- What sound(s) do you most love to hear?
A- The sound of wind blowing against the trees. So lovely.

I first met Nina when she modeled for the Peace of Fashion fashion show. I learned she works at talent agency and aspires to be Stage Manager.

Her outfit looked so cute I snapped several photos in the coffee shop. I like how she matched the color of her green and black fingernail polish to her outfit.

If you’ve followed my blog then you know I’m not a fan of black on black outfits (click Fall… Nature’s Fashion Show). So when Danielle walked by I hesitated for a second and thought, “What the heck, it’s time to break my rule.”

I’m not sure if Danielle has modeled but she’s what I call an Insider. She works for a high end fashion retailer and she’s been involved with Eco Fashion Week.

Danielle’s wearing:

Jacket Zara
Leather Tights Wilfred Free (Aritzia)
Heels Jeffrey Campbell

The first thing I noticed about Amy was her blue coat and purse. She said her coat was from last year but her purse was recently purchased.

I could tell she was comfortable in front of the camera so I asked if she was a model. She works in the airline industry but in the past she had a couple cosmetic modeling assignments for fun.

Amy’s wearing:

Jacket Zara
Jeans Uniqlo
Purse Louis Vuitton
Heels Vince Camuto

I met Jen and her girlfriend Carol while they were shopping on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Most black and grey outfits are paired with black coats. Occasionally I’ll see someone wearing black and grey with a red coat. However, I really like Jen’s choice of a tan colored coat.

Coat Zara
Shorts Malene Birger bought at Secret Location
Purse Celine
Boots bought in China
