Love is in the air and Valentine’s Day is not far away.

Instead of the traditional color of red, Zara and I found pastel colors of lavender, mauve, tan, grey and dusty rose for our themed shoot. She described the colors as soft and spring-like.

I picked the lace floral print skirt and blouse from the Couturist. The popular online site opened a pop-up shop (on Robson St. near Thurlow). After several weeks they will close their shop shortly after Valentine’s Day. However they will continue to serve customers online.

You may recognize Zara from her 2011/12 TV show called Life & Style with Zara. As a multi-talented individual she continues to keep busy as an Actress, Activist, TV Host, Producer and Model.

Several of these images were featured in the Community section of the Asian Pacific Post newspaper.

Hi Nina!

Q- What are you wearing today?
A-I am wearing shoes from Nine West. Dress is from Papaya and Jacket from RD Style. Most of my clothing is rare finds at small local stores.

Q- When/where would you wear this?
A- To a Business Luncheon to talk about the dance lessons my company offers.

Q- How would you describe your personal style?
A- I would say I don’t have a style per se. I strive to look classic sexy or chic sexy most often.

Q- Who’s your favorite style icon?
A- Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce.

Q- What shopping secrets would you like to share?
A- I only buy what I really really love.

Q- If you were a super hero/villain, what super powers would you have?
A- The ability to inspire people to fulfill their dreams.

Q- What sound(s) do you most love to hear?
A- Music ! I love music. Salsa/Tango are amongst my favorite genres.

Thanks Nina!

Diapers and sweats go together like peanut butter and jelly. For that reason I’m always impressed when I see a stylish mom because raising children is a messy affair. On the day of our photo shoot I was pleasantly surprised when her little guy slept through the entire session. The second surprise came when Nina said she could run in heels while pushing her stroller. I secretly think she was trying to keep warm!

As you can see Nina’s in great shape. This is because she’s a dance instructor. Her website has a catchy tagline which states, “No Partner? No Rhythm? No Problem!” I’ve yet to take one of her classes but I’ve always thought it would be fun to learn how to Salsa. To learn more about the classes she offers

I took this photo on 11.25 but I didn’t want it lost between two fashion show galleries so I’m posting it now.

I was waiting for my friend Antonina when Julie walked by. She was wearing a brightly colored, oversized hiking jacket. When Antonina arrived we all ended up in the same store. Without her oversized jacket Julie caught my eye. We started chatting and I learned she works in the medical field. So, no… she’s not a model. We stepped outside and took several shots. This was my favorite!

Julie’s wearing:

Blouse Tristan
Jeans Seven7
Heels Nine West

I normally see Mana interviewing Designers at fashion shows for her West Coast Style TV program. I’ve added several images of her in my “Seen @ the Show” posts. However today I saw her and her lovely sister on Robson St. With a little coaxing and prodding Mitra posed for me (left). She quickly warmed up and I got a nice smile. Of course I couldn’t say goodbye without photographing both sisters together. Mana (right) was quite proud of the fact that her mixed & matched outfit was affordable. Without hesitation she said, “My heels are from Army & Navy!”

Mitra’s wearing:

Hat shhh… It’s a secret!
Blouse Zara
Pants Aritzia
Heels Nine West

Mana’s wearing:

Blouse ??
Capri Jeans Sirens
Purse Tory Burch
Heels ??

P.S.- Ladies… You should know Army & Navy’s shoe sales are legendary events. This is the kind of sale where women queue up to be first. This is the kind of sale where women fill small, handheld grocery baskets with a dozen shoes. I’ve never attended the event but I understand the prices are very affordable. The last shoe sale took place on April 25th…
