To plan our shoot Julia and I met at the Cou+uris+ popup shop on Robson St. Incidentally there’s a good chance they will close on or near Valentine’s Day. So hurry while they are still downtown.

When Julia arrived she was wearing a vintage orange leather jacket. It was a statement piece too hard to ignore. So we shifted gears and found a mustard yellow A-line skirt at Zara. The autumn color combination became the inspiration for her outfit. Everything fell into place when I found a pair of burgundy heels and blouse.

Julia enjoys modeling and she’s pursuing an acting career. She’s typically cast as the “girl next door” but welcomes the opportunity to play a strong female character.

Several of these images were featured in the Community section of the Asian Pacific Post newspaper.

I styled Julia’s outfit:

Jacket: Vintage
Blouse: Forever 21
Belt: Big Buddha
Skirt: Zara
Tan purse: Oliva + Joy
Boots: Steve Madden
Heels: Zara

Kayleigh was having a cigarette when I noticed her amazing boots. I snapped a few photos and part way through our mini photo shoot her girlfriend Lele joined us. They bought their boots online but I saw an identical pair in the Browns’ store window.

Karey and June attended the last Robson Square salsa dance of the year. We met shortly thereafter. Karey has an office job but she would like to start her own petite clothing line. When I asked about her outfit, she said the weather played a large part in creating the look she calls Vampy Bohemian. The grey clouds guided her to a darker fall color. The hint of rain caused her to wear boots, the hat was for the wind and her jacket helped keep her warm and dry.

Karey’s wearing:

Hat: Forever 21
Jacket: Bebe
Dress: Gifted from a family member
Boots: Arturo Chiang

Julia’s is a bit casually dressed for SidewalkRunway but boy was she a treat to photograph!

I loved how her green blouse and brown boots complemented her hair.

She was headed to the Nicki Manaj concert but picked her outfit before heading to office in the morning. She knew she wouldn’t have much time between work and the show so she picked a casually sexy outfit.

She confessed she felt a little uneasy because she’s almost 6’2″ in heels. But at the same time the heels, hair and lipstick made her feel like a vixen!

Julia’s wearing:

Earrings Thrifted
top: Bebe
Jeans: Guess
Boots: Guess

Jessica’s outfit and crutches immediately caught my attention. Was she wearing a sweater mini dress? Was she injured while practicing hot yoga? As she sat near me on the bus I wanted to know what happened. She shared she was on her 3rd month of recovering from a motorcycle accident! She’s a student, involved in a professional group and social activities. I admired the fact that she took the time to piece together an outfit while feeling less than 100%.

Jessica’s wearing:

Cardigan: Banana Republic
Shorts: Yes, she’s actually wearing black shorts!
Purse: Michael Kors
Stocking: Winners
Leg Warmers: H&M
Boots: Spring

I met Crystal after she finished shopping. She raved about how comfortable her Giuseppe boots felt. While she was quite content to model her favorite boots she was too shy to smile for the camera.

Boots: Giuseppe
Purse: Kelly Bag (Hermes)

I really liked how Halah coordinated the colors of her head scarf, sweater and pants. Especially since they all came from stores. Her headscarf came from Saudi Arabia and her long sweater was bought in Vancouver. She’s studying to be a Micro Biologist and enjoys dancing.

Several of these images were featured in the Community section of the Asian Pacific Post newspaper.

Halah’s wearing:

Long Sweater: Sasso Moda
Boots: (a gift from Istanbul)

It was Valentine’s Day and she was holding hands with her man. Since I could see she was wearing Michael Kors boots and carrying a Tory Burch purse there was no need to interrupt.
