I met Anna at 11:30am and we shopped till 1:00pm. The first outfit we tried was a tan sweater dress. It fit nice but it was something commonly seen on the “sidewalk”.

The next outfit was a pair of wide leg, knit pants with funky metallic patterns and a fuzzy jacket. Unfortunately the idea didn’t work.

When Anna tried on the forest green shift dress she said she preferred fitted dresses. However, it matched her personal style of classy and elegant so that was our choice for the shoot. Next I paired it with black pair of heels and a purse. By 2:30pm we were ready to shoot.

In addition to modeling part-time Anna was recently crowned Miss Russia in a local pageant. When she modeled in her home country her favorite assignments were bridal shows. She said the long elegant, flowing gowns made her feel like a princess.

The 2nd Annual Thai Festival was held on the north side of the Vancouver Art Gallery. I stopped to listen to the music and spotted a lady wearing an interesting outfit. I introduced myself and learned Aphisara had just purchased the pants from a local designer at the event. Saimurai Apparel (a play on words) features a fusion of Thai handmade exterior pockets and waistbands paired with Japanese screen print style fabrics. We headed to the “sidewalk” and did a mini photo shoot. Aphisara was extremely comfortable in front of the camera moving effortlessly from pose to pose. She mentioned she’s a Make-up Artist and she enjoys dancing.

Wow, who is she!?

Where is she going?

Where is she from?

Her name is Rasha Goel, she’s crossing Alberni St. She’s from the US and we met through Zara Durrani. You might recognize Rasha if you attended Vancouver’s 2013 Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA). She was on the red carpet interviewing Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai. Rasha currently lives in LA where she’s a TV Host & Emmy Nominated Producer. She is also a co-founder of a dance company and produces documentaries, but her dream job would be to host her own talk show. Inspired by Oprah Winfrey and the legendary news broadcaster Barbara Walters she would love to give celebrities and everyday people the opportunity to share interesting and inspiring stories about themselves. When she has time to relax she enjoys traveling to out of the way places and experiencing their culture and traditions.

I saw Karen from across the street. Her bold black & white outfit was unique. I expected her to say it was a mini dress however it was blouse and skirt bought from two different stores. She was meeting a girlfriend from drinks and dinner and wanted something cool to wear on a warm summer evening. Karen keeps in shape by running.

Natanya’s choice of red was more than a pop of color, it was an explosion! I asked what inspired her outfit. She said she had a meeting with several executives and wanted to make a confident and bold statement. I think her power suit accomplished her goal!

I’ve attended quite a few fashion shows and met local TV Host Mandy Ross on many occasions:

Fast forward to April 2013 and we thought it would be fun to collaborate. Since Mandy has a passion for fashion it seemed natural to photograph her in the act of shopping! We headed to her favorite consignment & couture boutique in Gastown where she tried on a cute outfit and a sexy pair of heels.

Mandy is currently the TV Host for Fashion TV (Press Play Establishment Inc. is an official licensee of FTV). For today’s shoot, special thanks to:

When we met in January, Alba’s first outfit had a completely different look. Today we ended up at the same cafe by coincidence. She was with friends so I smiled and waved goodbye as I was leaving. An hour later we met by chance a second time. We chatted for a bit and I took a few photos. She mentioned she had two more outfits and she asked if we could meet the next day. Here’s the results. Three looks in two days!

Any Stylist, Personal Shopper or fashion website will recommend you build your wardrobe with few quality yet versitile pieces. Alba gives the perfect example of how that can be accomplished.

Eclectic Casual

Her tailored blazer paired with a casual flow-y skirt was an interesting combination. Next her stockings exposed a little thigh and her croppped turtle neck blouse showed a bit of tummy. This was the first time I’ve seen a cropped turtle neck blouse!
     Elegant Evening

The same blazer when paired with an asymmetrical tank and skirt gives her appearance a completely different look. Notice how her pastel color bracelet and pastel color heels accent her outfit.
     Dressy Casual

The same asymmetrical tank blouse when worn with a one sleeve lace blouse has a much softer look. Incidentally, the quote on her scarf reads, “Live free with strong will.” – Comme des Garcons

The sunny weather brought out lots of people during the long Easter weekend. Some clung to their winter black and grey outfits while others opted for their spring flip flops. When Natalie arrived for lunch I was glad to see she embraced the start of spring by wearing a colorful outfit. I almost left my camera at home but I’m glad I didn’t because we did an impromptu photo shoot when we walked past a flower stand.
