Sidewalk Style – Week 40 With Sohee

Sep, 27th, 2015

Sohee met a friend earlier and was on her way home. I asked about her outfit and she said she was inspired by a photo of a friend wearing a leather jacket. Her outfit made her feel powerful, sexy and confident. When I asked about her wardrobe she said it mainly consists of navy blue, grey and black colors. She said they are easy to match and she likes the slimming effect of dark colors.

Sidewalk Style – Week 27 With Asel

Jun, 28th, 2015

I’ve attended quite a few fashion shows in June but it was nice to roam the “sidewalk” with my camera. In doing so I met Asel. She was on her way to meet friends for dinner. She’s a recent Interior Design graduate and part-time model for PLY Management. I asked about her outfit and she was influenced by the warm weather. She decided to wear something delicate, light and breathable.  She chose her cream colored knit maxi dress. Her necklace was made by her friend Varya. She also had a light blue jean jacket in her purse to keep warm later in the evening.

Sidewalk Style – Week 35 With Mai

Aug, 29th, 2014

In the US, cut-off blue jeans and a red & white checkered blouse (tied at the waist) evokes a romantic notion of the farmer’s daughter. If you’ve seen Jessica Simpson in the 2005 “Dukes of Hazard” movie then you’ll understand my point. When Mai walked by I was subconsciously drawn to her. Yes, her blouse has a conservative style but as we began to talk I liked two details about her outfit. First was her choice of a fourth color. Wearing multiple colors can be tricky but the pale pink complemented her red & white blouse. Secondly, the same color was found in her purse, heels, cell phone case and fingernails! Even more impressive was how each piece came from a different store! I loved how each understated detail slowly revealed itself. Incidentally, Mai will start attending science classes at university this semester. She’s seen here with her friend Ayame.

Sidewalk & Runway Style – Week 25 With Hailey

Jun, 21st, 2014

Hailey on the Sidewalk

Two weeks after photographing Hailey in the Romielle Fashion Show @ the Italian Day Festival, we randomly met on the “sidewalk”. She had just finished modeling for swimwear show. The runway was on a downtown Vancouver rooftop. With surrounding high rises she said it felt like 40 (C) or 104 (F)! Needless to say she wanted to slip into something light and comfortable for the walk home. Like myself, Hailey has a full-time office job and follows her passion on evenings & weekends.

Sidewalk Style – Week 23 With Keiko

Jun, 1st, 2014

I photographed Keiko on the “Sidewalk” a year ago. Click Keiko to see her previous outfit. Today we met randomly as she was running errands. She has the same lovely smile and nice legs! Oh my, I wrote what I was thinking! I speculate both are a result of her love of dancing. She’s passionate about Salsa dancing. Today she’s wearing a flirty A-line skirt and matching wedge heels. She matched her purse and sweater then tied everything together with a scarf from Japan that repeats the colors of her outfit.

Sidewalk Style – Week 36 with Sam

Sep, 1st, 2013

“Fringe with Benefits!” I loved the way Sam’s skirt danced and swayed with each step. We met as she was heading to work. Her skirt was a gift from a friend. She thinks it came from Asia. I asked what inspired her outfit and she said she wanted a light feminine feel that looked nice and polished. When shopping she looks for items with details that stand out like bold colors, clean lines or interesting cuts. The fringe definitely puts a new spin on typical maxi skirt.
