Caroline is a bit casually dressed for SidewalkRunway but there was something about her knee high stockings and ponytail that attracted my attention. Her inspiration for her outfit was comfort. She was heading to work and chose flats because she would be standing for most of her shift. She’s wearing a “two color” outfit but each piece came from a different store.

Caroline’s wearing:

Jacket: Zara
Bag: Calvin Klein
Stockings: American Apparel
Shoes: Camper (bought in Paris)

Fan Expo took place during Easter weekend but Kim didn’t attend. I spotted her on Alberni St. just outside Urban Merchant Tea. While chatting, she said the frills, feathers, bows and lace all have an over-the-top quality. It makes her feel like a lady of leisure when she dresses-up.

In addition to Urban Merchant Tea, Rose House in Kerrisdale and Pâtisserie Für Elise in downtown Vancouver are also popular tea house because they match the aesthetics of their outfits.

She also shared International Lolita Day is approaching. It’s a biannual event, held on the first Saturday of June, and the first Saturday of December. Kim is not an organizer and she’s not sure if Vancouver will host an event. However she’s considering attending the Seattle event. Click International Lolita Day for more information.

Several of these images will be featured in the Community section of the Asian Pacific Post newspaper.

Kim’s wearing:

Dress: Angelic Pretty
Wig: Lockshop Wigs
Hat: Handmade by Atelier Crossover (a local designer)
Purse: Vivienne Westwood
Hosiery: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Heels: Dream V

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl Tribute featuring Jennifer Lee

Feb, 7th, 2015

#24 Marshawn Lynch is known for his “Beast Mode”. Jennifer Lee is known for her “Beauty Mode”!

Yes, the Patriots won Super Bowl XLIX but they didn’t inspire us like the Seattle Seahawks. If you missed the playoff game against the Green Bay Packers, you missed a lesson in perseverance in the face of insurmountable odds. In the dying minutes of the game Seahawks were losing by 12 points. The natural inclination would be to give up and try again next year. However, the Seahawks used the following risky plays to score 15 points and tie the game:

    1. A fake field goal
    2. A two point conversion and
    3. An onside kick

The Seahawks scored six more points in overtime and advanced to the Super Bowl. The lesson was never give-up no matter how dire the odds may appear.   In the last 20 seconds of the Super Bowl the Seahawks had the momentum and appeared as if they would prevail once again in dramatic fashion. Unfortunately, a Patriot’s interception (which I felt was pass interference) preserved their narrow lead.

I would have loved to see Russell Wilson or Marshawn Lynch win the game for the Seahawks. However the post game criticism of Seahawk’s Coach Pete Carroll was swift and harsh. Yes, a risky play lost the game but his critics overlooked half a dozen risky plays that produced successful results. You’ve got to take the bad with the good. I’m a diehard Oakland Raider’s fan but I’ll hop on the Seahawks bandwagon in late 2015 with a hopeful eye.

I styled Jennifer’s outfit with:

Jacket: Canada Goose (from BluBird on Alberni St.)
T-Shirt, scarf and gloves: from the Seahawks Pro Shop
Miniskirt & Heels: Forever 21
Belt: H&M
Tube Socks: American Apparel

I couldn’t help but notice Hannah’s legs. It was extremely cold so I thought she was wearing long black socks. But as we started chatting I realized she was wearing Faux Thigh-High Tights. It was paired nicely with her A-Line skirt and Mary Jane heels for a super sexy look. Her scarf adds a pop of color but it works because the plaid pattern matches her skirt. Aside from her outfit I learned she’s a Business/Commerce student and has secured a Co-op job in Tokyo.

The first thing I noticed about Alba was her military style jacket. The second thing I noticed was her charming English accent. We met as she was headed to an appointment at a nearby department store. During our impromptu shoot she told me she was a double major. As a journalism student she asked me all sorts of wonderful questions about my blog. I fantasized we were both famous and I was being interviewed by a future Oprah or George Stroumboulopoulos!

I can’t say enough good things about Yuan Yuan’s outfit: three bold colors, burgundy, black & white; furry vest & fuzzy sweater and alternating shades of red finger nail polish! I met her as she was shopping. As she was telling me about her outfit she confessed she was dressed casual because she was running late!
