In the US, cut-off blue jeans and a red & white checkered blouse (tied at the waist) evokes a romantic notion of the farmer’s daughter. If you’ve seen Jessica Simpson in the 2005 “Dukes of Hazard” movie then you’ll understand my point. When Mai walked by I was subconsciously drawn to her. Yes, her blouse has a conservative style but as we began to talk I liked two details about her outfit. First was her choice of a fourth color. Wearing multiple colors can be tricky but the pale pink complemented her red & white blouse. Secondly, the same color was found in her purse, heels, cell phone case and fingernails! Even more impressive was how each piece came from a different store! I loved how each understated detail slowly revealed itself. Incidentally, Mai will start attending science classes at university this semester. She’s seen here with her friend Ayame.
