Carlie Wong Gallery

Approximately 60% of Carlie’s collection is shown above.

There were so many things I liked about evening. Carlie’s handcrafted collection was exquisite, the models were attractive, the show started on time and the guests wore cocktail party style dresses. The entertainment (between shows) was good and the event raised money to fight cancer. The Vancouver Urban Winery (VUW) easily fit the 50′ runway and the appetizers they served were surprisingly yummy. With so many things going well, what could possibly go wrong? The lighting… The venue’s lights never rose above a romantic candle light glow. While this set the mood for the guests, it was disappointing for the photographers. VUW is a great venue. Hopefully they will keep this in mind the next time they host a fashion show.

Carlie’s couture line was lacy, sexy and see-through. However body suits kept the important parts covered. This line requires a fit and extremely confident woman. Carlie also showed her bridal line. I imagined some pieces could be worn at red carpet or charity events.

I was impressed with this collection.  The tailoring and craftsmanship looked impeccable.  Furthermore, the show contained three distinct elements.  The collection started with Ready-to-Wear outfits (for Saturday evening), followed by Sophisticated outfits (for an imagined rich & famous crowd) and ended with Special Occasion outfits (for opening galas).  Hopefully they will attend the Fall/Winter VFW show in March.  I would like to see more of their work.

I really like the white dress with the turquoise and silver stripes. It’s simple, classy and very feminine. I’m single at the moment but that didn’t stop me from fantasizing, “That would make a nice present for my girlfriend!”
